A CONCRETE ROSE BOOK BAR

"The Lancaster food scene will soon welcome Pennsylvania’s first black-owned winery: A Concrete Rose Book Bar (named after a poem by Tupac Amaru Shakur). This exciting project, founded by locals Evita Colon and Solise White, will combine multiple concepts under one roof: a bookstore that focuses on African-American authors, a community gathering space, a wine bar and a winery."

FAMILY VERSITY

"After years of counseling and providing support to children, adults, and families,  I have found that the family dynamic is fractured in many of our communities. Most of it is dysfunctional generational behavior and patterns. Some families lack the positive male in the home or in their life. Single mothers need to be empowered and provided with tools and resources as well.

Its time for the family to be strengthened, empowered, and educated during these unprecedented times.

My research has shown that support and empowerment along with mentoring are keys to creating new pathways of behavior and abolishing generational dysfunction.

This is why I created FamilyVersity. It’s important to provide support and address these issues that continue to impact families."

SOUTHEAST TIMES

How was SouthEast Times established?

"The end of August 2019 Project Activate (Lancaster County Community Foundation initiative) held it’s first design team session for the SouthEast. During these sessions we would brainstorm issues that plagued  the SE. One that came to light was how the local media portrays the SE quadrant.

From that the SE Media team formed with Marquis Lupton, Kareema Burgess & Tene Darby. It was our vision to see that the SouthEast had it’s own newspaper to highlight all the happenings within the quadrant. It would be inclusive of a total picture, the favorable and unfavorable. Most importantly, told from our own people.

We control the narrative of the information. Adding highlights of “What’s good in the hood! “ Valdijah Ambrose Brown, Joshua Hunter,  Vincent Smith, Priscilla Glover, and David Barton have also joined our efforts to bring this publication to the SouthEast.

It is our sincerest intention to provide the residents of this community with dignity & integrity they can trust in a news source. The team appreciates the support from the community in our efforts. We Are SouthEast Proud!"
